Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
This policy explains what Katana collects when you use the Katana Insights app and the Katana Baseball Week website (katanabaseballweek.com), what it is used for, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Katana Insights and katanabaseballweek.com are run by Katana. For anything about this policy or your information, email info@katanajp.co.
What the app collects
- Your account: your name, your email address, and the identifier Apple or Google gives us when you sign in with them. If you sign in with Apple and hide your email, we only receive Apple's relay address.
- Your groups: the groups you belong to, whether you're an admin, and the invite code or invitation you joined with. Other members of a group see your name and email.
- What you record: events, teams, players, games, plays, venues and notes that you or your group enter.
- Player information: names, photos, numbers, country, positions, batting and throwing hands, pitches, and the statistics that come from scored games.
- Photos: only the photos you choose for a player or a logo. The app doesn't look through your library.
- Purchases, if you make one in the app: Apple takes the payment. We receive the transaction from Apple and keep its ID, the product and the date with your account, so what you bought follows you to your other devices. We never see your payment details.
What we don't do
The app has no advertising and no analytics, and nothing in it tracks you across other companies' apps or websites. We don't sell or rent personal information.
The public website
Events a group publishes appear on katanabaseballweek.com: schedules, scores, play-by-play, standings, rosters, and the profiles of players their group has made public, with their photo and statistics. A player stays off the site until their group makes them public. Scorers' names and email addresses are never shown on the site.
The website uses Google Analytics to count visits and the pages viewed, and a cookie to remember your language. Analytics data is not linked to an app account.
How we use it
To sign you in, keep your group's data in sync across devices, publish the events your group chooses, unlock what you've bought, and answer your support requests. We don't use it for anything else.
Who handles it for us
Information is stored and processed by Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage and Cloud Functions). Apple and Google handle sign-in when you use them, and Apple handles payments. These companies may process data in other countries, including the United States, under their own privacy commitments.
Otherwise we share information only with the other members of your groups, publicly as described above, or when the law requires it.
Deleting your account
- You can delete your account in the app under Account → Delete account. This removes your sign-in, your profile and your group memberships. Groups where you are the only member are deleted along with their data. If you signed in with Apple, the app's access to your Apple ID is revoked as well.
- In groups that have other members, the records you entered belong to the group and stay with it. A group admin can edit or delete them.
- If you bought something in the app, we keep the record of the purchase (Apple's transaction ID, without your name or email) so refunds and restores can be matched to it.
To have a player's profile or photo taken off the website, ask the group running the event or email info@katanajp.co.
Children
Katana Insights is made for scorers and event staff and isn't directed at children. Groups are responsible for having permission to list and photograph the players they enter, including a parent's or guardian's permission for minors.
Your choices
You can see and correct your name in the app, and delete your account at any time. To ask for a copy of your information, a correction or a deletion we haven't covered here, email info@katanajp.co. The support page answers common questions.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app when the change is significant.
