Katana Insights for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and katanabaseballweek.com

Katana Insights scores baseball games pitch by pitch, publishes them live to the event's website, and turns every pitch into scouting reports. Here's help with the things people ask about most.

Contact us

Email info@katanajp.co. Tell us the email address you sign in with and, for a problem, the device and what you were doing. We answer in English or Japanese.

Getting started

  • Sign in with Apple, or with an email address and password.
  • To score an event, join the group running it: ask a group admin for the invite code and enter it under Account → Join with an invite code. If an admin invited your email address, the invitation appears under Account once you've signed in with that address.
  • To run your own event, choose Account → Create a group, then add the event, teams and players.

Katana Insights

Insights adds hot and cold zones, each pitcher's arsenal and pitch mix, spray charts, splits and game previews, built from the games your group scores. Every account can see every player's reports.

  • Reports use the pitch type, pitch location and batted-ball location recorded while scoring. Turn them on for an event in its settings, under Stat qualifiers & scoring options.
  • A player's profile grows from Basic to Solid, Sharp and Elite as more of their pitches are charted. Profile training scores practice games around a player without touching the event's stats.

Scoring

  • One device scores a game at a time. If that device is no longer in use, anyone in the group can open the game and tap Take over scoring.
  • Plays can be corrected afterwards from the game's timeline, and the website updates within moments.
  • The app keeps working without a connection and syncs once you're back online.

Players on the website

A player appears on katanabaseballweek.com only after their group makes them public. To correct or remove a player's details or photo, ask the group running the event, or email info@katanajp.co.

Deleting your account

In the app, open Account → Delete account. You'll be asked to confirm, and with Sign in with Apple to confirm with Apple too. Groups where you are the only member are deleted with their data; other groups keep what you entered. See the privacy policy for details.
